Let Me Count The Ways
The reasons for starting this web page in 1998 are as follows:
- Dissatisfaction with radio playlists as they did not include some of the rare hits or non-hits from the 50's to the 80's that got a lot of airplay in those days
- A distaste developed for the same old formula-based Top 500 packaged playlists that went on indefinite rotation
- I had to devise a way to enjoy favorite music from my personal record collection online, wherever I went to in the pre-iPod world - ubiquitous access to my favorites, on demand, not having to depend on what radio wanted me to hear when it chose to play it. Thus, at home, at work, or away from home, I could simply click on a link and play MY favorites.
- It started out as a page that featured only rare tunes, but due to numerous requests, I found the need to expand it to include older hits, even Top 40, that radio played rarely, or not at all
- Every one of these gems deserve to stay in the public eye, and this was my way of doing my small part
- To expose these masterpieces to newer generations who had no idea these gems existed and could access them with a few mouse-clicks and hear how it used to be...and how it ought to be
- To allow one to sample the music, hopefully, prompting one to purchase it
- In order to interact with like-minded music enthusiasts worldwide who shared the same tastes in music. The number of music-lovers who recognize and love these tunes is mind-boggling!
